Request for Proposed Film Festival Films
Deadline for Submission: July 1, 2021, Midnight Eastern Standard Time
Notification Process Begins on/after August 1, 2021
Atlanta Black Pride Committee is seeking films and videos that are of interest to lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, intersex, and/or transgender people and/or related to gender or sexuality issues, and/or feature an LGBTQ+ main character. The Atlanta Black Pride Film Festival has four (4) screening sections: Narratives, Documentaries, Short Films, and Web Series. A submission constitutes an agreement to our Submission Terms and Conditions.
Narratives: Films that tell a fictional story, event, or narrative.
Submissions Criteria:
- 60 minutes minimum run time
- The writer, director or producer must be a person of African descent, or the film content must have a multicultural perspective.
- Entrants must be 18 years of age or older.
- The showcase is open to U.S. and international entries.
- Films must be in the English language or contain English-language subtitles.
- Films must have commenced principal photography on or after January 1, 2016.
- While it is our preference to exhibit films in this showcase section that are world premieres, Narratives that have previously screened at up to two (2) other festivals are eligible for this section.
- Films that have been, or will be, broadcast or streamed on television or the Internet, or released via any other public distribution platform (theatrical, Blu-ray, DVD, streaming, VOD, etc.) in any country prior to January 1, 2015, are not eligible for this category.
- Each entry must be submitted via https://filmfreeway.com/AtlantaBlackPrideFilmFestival, where you must upload your film and completed the submission form, no later than the deadline of July 1, 2021.
Documentaries: Nonfictional films intended to document some aspect of reality, primarily for the purposes of instruction, education, or creating and maintaining a historical record.
Submissions Criteria:
- 45 minutes maximum run time
- The writer, director or producer must be a person of African descent, or the film content must have a multicultural perspective.
- Entrants must be 18 years of age or older.
- Competition is open to U.S. and international entries.
- Films must be in the English language or contain English-language subtitles.
- Films must have commenced principal photography on or after January 1, 2016.
- While it is our preference to exhibit films in this showcase section that are world premieres, Documentaries that have previously screened at up to two (2) other festivals are eligible for this section.
- Films that have been, or will be, broadcast or streamed on television or the Internet, or released via any other public distribution platform (theatrical, Blu-ray, DVD, streaming, VOD, etc.) in any country prior to January 1, 2015, are not eligible for this category.

Short Films: The Short Film Showcase is regarded as one of the most popular entries at the festival.
Submissions Criteria:
- 30 minutes maximum run time inclusive of credits.
- Films must have been directed and/or written by a person of African descent
- Entrants must be 18 years of age or older.
- Competition is open to U.S. and international entries.
- Films must be in the English language or contain English-language subtitles.
- Films must have commenced principal photography on or after January 1, 2016.
- Films must not have had any previous exhibition on broadcast or cable (by means of any method or medium) or online.
- Films submitted to the Short Film Showcase must not have been previously exhibited on or licensed for exhibition on, any form of television (i.e., free TV, basic or pay cable, pay-per-view and/or subscription programming services).
- Each entry must be submitted via https://filmfreeway.com/AtlantaBlackPrideFilmFestival, where you must upload your film and completed the submission form, no later than the deadline of July 1, 2021.
Web Series: Short form narrative or documentary episodic series
Submissions Criteria:
- 10 minutes maximum run time per episode
- The writer, director or producer must be a person of African descent, or the series content must have a multicultural perspective.
- Entrants must submit two (2) episodes of the series, not to exceed 20 minutes of run time inclusive of credits
- Episodes should be uploaded as one continuous video file, with a 2-second break and new opening title card separating the episodes.
- If the submitted content is a continuation of an existing series that has previously been made available to the public via any platform (broadcast television, Blu-ray, DVD, streaming, VOD, etc.) prior to January 1, 2016, only new unreleased episodes are eligible for submission.
- Entrants must be 18 years of age or older.
- Competition is open to U.S. and international entries.
- The Series must be in the English language or contain English-language subtitles.
- Each entry must be submitted via https://filmfreeway.com/AtlantaBlackPrideFilmFestival, where you must upload your film and completed the submission form, no later than the deadline of July 1, 2021.
